[RESOLVED] help needed

Hi all,
when i run the script the following warning is shown, i dono how to rectify it, please help me

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /var/www/tuition/index.php:135) in /var/www/tuition/login.php on line 43

Hi Weedpacket,
i had searched over in the forum and found related topics and using that i corrected some how but the warning still arises.
i had not used cookies.
i had removed whitespaces.

but no use

This happens when you define a new header for a page that already exists using header ($newheader); there's a way to avoid that in the php.ini but i really cant remember how, try with a google search.

Not quite. This error happens when you've outputted something (line 135 of index.php in your case, shankhar) before using header(), setcookie(), session_start(), name_of_function_that_alters_headers/i, etc.

Exactly, and i found the line in php.ini:
is the directive output_buffering that has to be set to 1.

This should resolve your problem shankar, anyway i've not tested this solution, let us know.

Well, it doesn't exactly resolve the problem, buffering just covers it up by storing output in the server's memory.

Usually this error is avoided by doing all of your logic and session starting and whatnot at the top of your code, before you output any HTML.

Before session_start() or cookies and all

<?php
ob_start();
session_start();
?>

and at the end of the code

<?php
ob_end_flush();?>

This solved the error.

is the directive output_buffering that has to be set to 1.

This should resolve your problem shankar, anyway i've not tested this solution, let us know.

I had also not tested this solution, i'll test it and let u all know.

As bradgrafelman said, this does not actually resolve the error, just covers it up. It's a substitute for fixing the problem that (a) causes performance to suffer, and (b) depending on what the problem is could be a security risk.

Depends on what happens starting on line 135 of /var/www/tuition/index.php I guess.

But this has been discussed in plenty of existing threads already.
