Hacker Banned from the Internet

So, I don't plan on trying to do anything naughty or anything but I seen this artilcle and it got me thinking;

Basically, if you cant be bothered reading it. It's about a hacker that got caught and then banned from the internet. What do you suppose the legal definition of the internet is?

So many things these days can go on the internet or atleast access the internet. For example, What about XBOX live? or a mobile phone?

This isn't new; do a search on the name "Kevin Mitnick". Like many who got bans back in the day, he now runs a security firm.

Sorry, I hadnt meant to mean it was a new thing.

I was wondering what the legal definition of the internet was? it must be a bit of a gray area with so many things using the internet now.
