Help with user acct and forum like scripts

This is what I am looking to accomplish. I need to create user accounts. The user will be able to log into an admin type account and update news, jobs, and events. When the user logs in he will need to be able to post this information via forms I have created. After he fills out the appropriate forms and hits submit, it will post the information to a specific .php or .html file. He will be able to delete the posts as he feels necessary.

I thought about using a forum for the solution but I need the information that is posted to the site to be on a specific page. When he updates news via forms it will be displayed on a news page same for the events and jobs page.

If no one has a solution, could you please lead me in the direction where I should look.
I know:
I need a database.
I need forms.
I guess the question is how do I put them together..lol.

Help is greatly appreciated!!

First I would try google. Use google to get a good understanding of what PHP and server-side programming is.

Then decide what database you are going to use. MySQL, MSSQL, ect. Use google to learn the differances and which one will best suite your needs.

Once you have decided on that, you should search on tutorials that will help you get started in PHP programming. There are plenty out there. If you feel they aren't clear or are your style. I would look into getting a couple of books.

Then once you have a got something started and have questions or trouble, consult php.net. This is the php manual. Very powerful tool when used correctly.

Lastly, if you done all you can do and something isn't working come back here and we can try to help. 🙂

I guess what I am looking for is direction. Which way I need to head. I have an understanding of php. I will be using mySQL for my database. I have done numerous amounts of research on what scripts I need and I just can't find the right solution. That is why I have come to the forums..HELP!

Ok, so if I understand you correctly your not actually asking for any help with any PHP script or application you have created, you are just looking for someone to give you a script that will do what you have described or tell you were to get one from?

If this is the case, we are not here to write scripts for you. People come here once they have started writing something and can't figure out why their stuff isn't working and we do our best to help and solve their problems.

Secondly, again if I understand what you are asking, try hotscripts.com or something long them lines. There is usually pre-built scripts that will do exactly what you want or close enough where you can make some minor modifications to achieve what you want.

What you’re are asking is a pretty big undertaking. Not hard to accomplish just would take some time.

I'm looking for direction...Along the lines of what do I need? I know the scripts are out there. I will find the scripts myself when I know what I am looking for. If someone knows off the top of their head what I am looking for than great. If not then too bad for me. It would save a me days of working with php. I will know it someday I am under a strict deadline this is the reason I am asking for help.
I am in the process of installing phpmyadmin, its not like I want someone to do the research for me... I just need help!! thanks.

To be honest, I am really having a hard time understanding what you want. If you have done the research and you are starting to create the database and tables. And you know you need to create forms, then what else can I tell you?

I just want some suggestions. Help. Knowledge. I figured the guru's would be here. I could search all day and not even scratch the surface on what people here probably know. Thats all. I need opinions.
example- Oh I know of this great website that caters to exactly what you want to do.
OR
What if you did this or that would that help you accomplish what you wanted to do?
Jeez why do people love to argue on forums? I appreciate your input but you have nothing to offer this thread. Please dont ruin it for me with the arguments. Id hate for people to be bored by the second post..

Well, lets just insult the ones with the knowledge and the ones that are trying to help. Great idea... That will get you what you are looking to try to accomplish.

And I am not arguing with you. There is no disagreement.

As far sites that do what you are trying to accomplish then look at most newpaper sites. Most do what you are looking to do.
