Advice to built this application.

Hi all,

I´m a experienced programmer in C++, Pascal, c#, etc.... I just need to build a mailing aplication in php, but I´m a bit lost.

I don´t want to waste a lot of time creating table (html) styles, etc... for my reports, mail list, etc... so I need a fast way to do this, something like a Table class with good predefined styles that split HTML for me, or better, a GUI class that let me create nice gui's that split all the html/javascript for me (say menues, tabs, etc...).

In the other hand I don´t know if the basic php mail support will be enough for me to do what I´m trying. I need to send emails with different attachments, read emails, etc...

Hope someone could bring some light on this...

Take a looke at Horde, @mail, Imp, Squirrel Mail. They're all good scripts. Roundcube is open source, and is in its infancy; however, it is still a good place to look at IMAP interfaces for PHP (which were created by someone else). Also look at Ihola mail.

You don't want to waste time with a GUI; however, I don't know of any PHP project that automatically does this for you. SMARTY is a good template parsing engine, and there are good JS layers as well. You just have to search for them.

There's not one package that does everything you want, so you're going to have to put pieces together. But if you look at the open-source solutions above, you can see how they do it and go from there. Or you could just use one of the solutions too.
