Order by date (from the back)

I have a varchar field, holding dates in this format dd/mm/yyyy.

When I "order by" it gives me all the 1's first, and not by the yyyy.
Is there a way that I can "order by" in reverse from the yyyy, and not the dd?
I can't change my database field to Date, because they can type out certain other values.

Any thoughts?

I don't know if it is possible to do what you want, I don't know how to do it anyway. But if it could be done it would be a rather slow query since it requires formatting of the string to order. I would suggest that you add a date field, add a trigger that inserts the date into that field and then use that as the field you order by.

Either way I strongly suggest you to rethink the database structure since it is clear that the column holds more than one kind of information: The date and/or the other values.

Yeh, that's what I thought.
I'd have to change the field to datetime, and create a new field called dateother.
If the datetime field does not contain "/" "/" it should save the value to the dateother field.

That's the only solution I can think of.
