[RESOLVED] how to delete null elements in an array

I used to ask this question before but I forgot the answer... I tried looking for my thread again but I think it is already deleted..

Given:

$a = array(,1,,4,,6,,,,,)

Question:
How can I delete the null values in the array so that the $a will be:

$a = (1,4,6)

Condition:
Their original element values must not change.
