I am having a issue with my VBulletin site. I just installed the software and the site has be loding slow or not loading at times. I checked the task manager and I say 8 instances of php-cgi.exe running and one instance using 25 percent of the cpu. What is causing php to hog the system like that and how can I stop that from happening. So far I have to restart the www service when ever that happens.

It's pretty hard to say based on that info. It could simply be inefficient/buggy PHP scripts. If running on an Apache web server, you might gain some performance by installing PHP as an Apache module instead of as CGI.

Buggy script as in VB is buggy or my installation of php is buggy? I am using IIS. I really need to get this solved as it is causing major user problems since the site keeps hanging.

I meant any PHP scripts being run on the server, possibly including the VBulletin scripts.

I've never worked with VB, so don't know if there are any configuration options or other things that are known performance issues. As this board is VB-driven, if you're lucky maybe one of the admins will see this and share any learned wisdom they may have acquired.

Thank you NogDog, I sure hope so. Every once in a while I alsoget a blank screen and I would have to refresh the page
