send receive sms in php?

My web app needs SMS functionality. It should be able to send and receive sms. How should I do it? Suggestions?

Contact your SMS gateway provider for more information; most providers offer sending and receiving over some kind of HTTP-based system - for example, you might use a HTTP post to send the SMS to them, and they may use a HTTP POST back to your page when you receive one.

Some gateways also use email.
