[RESOLVED] Another problem

Hi.
I need your help again.
Well, this first code displays a search form. Once I click submit button without keyword and brings the second page (error.php) it repeats code I think it is from the first page. How can I fix it?

Hi,

I am sorry, but it is completely unclear what you are trying to do here.

Which page is being posted to? the second? That does not have any php on it, so I do not see how it would bring up any code?

And please.. Use [php ] [/php ] tangs INSTEAD of [html ] tags if posting php code.

i think what hes saying is when the form is submitted, it reloads the html again within itself

the first snippet is the base html with the form

the second snippet is the submitted html that somehow embeds the first page back into itself again

we need to see your php code too... without that we have NO idea how its doing that

Hm.. Looks like you are including a file which has a lot of layout junk in it.

What is the code for error? It should only contain a few lines., not a whole set of 'junk' html.

The second set of code in post #4 is that the page error.php? if so: You need to strip everything, except the section between the <?php ?> php tags. That should solve it.

ehh.. You delete all the code in that file, except for

Actually.. Even easier:

replace:

include ('error.php');

with

	  echo "<p style='color:red;'>ERROR: You must enter a value to search for.</p>\n";

As all you want to do there is spit out an error. Unless the error.php is supposed to do something else too.

By including the file error.php, you are including everything from that file, as if it was part of the calling script, which is why you get all the HTML in it again: The error.php has all the formatting html in it.

Hi.
I try that and I like your help so much. It looks ok but is not what I really need.

I need the error to be display in the spot where was before because at the time I put a keyword and the search display the results, I will need the result in the same spot too where the error would be if not keyword (error.php)
And I think it has to be in another page, that is way i use one for the error an another for the result (search.php)

Is there a chance to use something maybe a class I don't know in php if it is call class but if Where the error or the search result need to be display, call just the class and does not bring all the code again. But from error.php and search.php

But I don nkow how to use something like that. Any ideas?

Might I just point out something at this point?

If you want to post syntax-highlighted HTML code, put it between [html]...[/code] tags. If the code contains a mix of HTML and PHP, the PHP will not be syntax highlighted.

If you want to post syntax-highlighted PHP code, put it between [php]...[/code] tags. If the code contains a mix of HTML and PHP, the HTML will not be syntax highlighted.

If you want to post formatted code without highlighting, put it between [code]...[/code] tags.

See this forum's FAQ for examples.

As you would have already noticed by now when checking your posts, it only makes sense to use one pair of tags at a time. [html][php]...[/code][/code] gets interpreted as "syntax highlighted HTML that starts with [php] and ends with [/code]".
