[RESOLVED] Including only certain lines from a txt file

Hi there,

Was hoping someone could help me with what I imagine is a simple process:

I'm hoping to include a file called citybeat.txt, this file has the currently playing songs on our radio station, coming out in the following format :

ROBBIE_WILLIAMS       LET ME ENTERTAIN YOU                              

JUST_JACK             Starz In Their Eyes     

I am including it using simply

<? include "NowPlaying/citybeat.txt" ?>

How possible is it to firstly, only include the top line and second have it display as follows:

Robbie Williams - Let Me Entertain You

Noting capitals at top of each line, I have already done this in .NET but am wanting to convert parts of our website to PHP.

Can anyone help?

this should get u started...

$myFile = "testFile.txt";
$fh = fopen($myFile, 'r');
$thedata = fgets($fh);
fclose($fh);
echo $thedata;

that should read the first line outof the text file (according to the website)... once u get the first line u just have to format the results

$thedata = explode('   ',$thedata);

$artist = ucwords(str_replace('_',' ',$thedata[0]));
$title = ucwords(str_replace('_',' ',$thedata[1]));

Does anyone know how I would format this to remove _ when they appear and to remove capitals from mid line? I.E Robbie Williams - Let Me Entertain You, as opposed to ROBBIE WILLIAMS LET ME ENTERTAIN YOU?

hrm the explode statement isnt working as i'd hope... gimme a few to figure out a solution

$thedata = preg_split('/\s{2,}/ ',$thedata);

$Artist = ucwords(strtolower(str_replace('_',' ',$thedata[0])));
$Title = ucwords(strtolower(str_replace('_',' ',$thedata[1])));

echo $Artist." - ".$Title;

?> 

here i used preg_split to chop the string where it see's 2 or more whitespace occurances

that current code block works (as tested by me)... i corrected the output case of the artist and title as well
