Hehe,
I am actually ABSOLUTELY NOT comfortable with mod_rewrite. Just happened to spent more than an healthy amount of time on figuring this stuff out, to the point that I even cheated, and registered and posted at webmasterwold to colve some issues.
ONE of them was a trailing slash issue, which I was told, should not be an issue..
That being said..
Make sure you set a maximum number of rewrites, otherwise you may mess up your server, and require to force it out of a never-ending loop, if I missed something!! ALWAYS try these things on a dev. server first!!
try:
try to match for the uri, NOT ending with php, or a slash
and rewrite to the same stuff WITH trailing slash
We math the URI against an optional series of characters,
ended with php or a trailing slash. If this does NOT match, rewrite
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(.)?(php|/)$
rewriteRule (.)$ (.*)/
