I switched hosters a couple off weeks ago. I had to change all the DB & IMAP connections from www.mysite.com to localhost. But then it was working fine until maybe a week later when anypage with an imap connection would result in error. In IE6 it would show the defult 'Cannot Connect To Server' page. In Firefox it would open up a download box asking for you to download the you were on. Meaning if you typed in the URL of a page with an imap connection it would ask to download that page, if you were going from page one without an imap connection to page 2 with an imap connection it would ask for you to download page 1. And when you did download the page and view it it was a blank document.
Well, my hoster at first said it was a problem on my end until I showed them it was the imap connections. They then increased the rlimitmem restriction. What would happen then is that it would work for a while but at first imap_getmsginfo wouldn't. Then it would. Then the whole thing would result in error. So they removed the rlimitmem resrictions completely. Now it all works, for a while.
Now it will work a fifty times, then one error, then work ten times, then consent error. Wait a couple minutes it starts working fifty times again and the cycle continues.
My current hoster ask to see the phpinfo from my past hoster and they said the only real difference is that they (the new hoster) use zend optimizer. I also noticed that the Server API is CGI compared to the new hoster Server API being Apache.
Does anyone have an explanation for this? Recommendations? I cannot go back to my old hoster because they were way over selling and I was getting server loads of 50+ on two cpu's.
