php.ini extension_dir

Quick question...

When the extension_dir is set to look in "./" i.e. the current folder...what would be the current folder? Is that were the php.ini sits or where the php binary sits. Any one know?

It's where PHP.ini sits I believe. I find it better to specify the exact path:
/usr/username/php/extensions
C:/php/extensions
