crop image twice then save?

It there a way to take an image (original image), select an area (crop1), then crop another area (crop2) on the original image. Then put crop 1 on top of crop 2 and save it as a new file?

I can crop an image and save it, but I don't know how to crop an area twice and create a new image from the combined two crops. Confused?

EDIT: I can't get the images to display inline, but the images describe better what I'm trying to say 🙁

I'm not sure the images do describe it too well - I see one says "ABCD" the other says "BAD" but ....?

But anyhow, [man]imagecopy[/man] is for copying rectangular portions of one image and pasting them into another. Examples of its use can be found on that page, but it's pretty simple (copy this section of this image to that location on that image).

Then, we select only one part of the image

Now, we place the selected area on top of the original so it would look like

Notice the C is missing, since the copied A was placed over it.

Now we crop

would be the final result. I don't know if you can do three process to an image or not without saving the file locally or not. The whole imagecreate imagecopy is a bit confusing to me as a novice php user, but I found a work around in the mean time 😃

EDIT: I realized I could have done it horizontally as well and taken less space 🙁 sorry.
