PHP with xml and xsl

Hello,
I was wondering if there ware a way to still use php scripts with a web page/website that has been built in xml and xsl. Do I have to create the xml and xsl using php or something? I saw a create_xsl() I believe it was.. is this the correct function to use or is there another one? please let me know thanks.
