Client variables?...or something

is it possible for me to get the country that someone visiting my site is from?
are there any such variables i'm able to access that give this info?

i have an email registration form and i need to get a sense of where someone is from, country at least, and was hoping to get it automatically instead of making them choose from a menu.

ideally i could get their zip code too, but i doubt that is possible. 😕
