[RESOLVED] SESSION variable equalling"L"

Hi,

I have a session variable setup ($_SESSION['first_name']) that contains the users first name. It works most of the time, but seemingly randomly it will equal "L" instead of their first name???

I don't set or change the $_SESSION['first_name'] after the initial login, so how on earth would it all of a sudden equal "L"? Every other session variable I set holds its value correctly.

Found the problem. If you have another variable outside session called $first_name, it will alter the session variable.

If you have register_globals switched on, or you've turned the 4.2 bug-compatibility switch on and turned off the warning.
