OOP

Ive searched and looked through a lot of topics but found no answer to my question.

I know quite a bit of programming, no OOP programming though... and i know nothing about OOP.

Really all i know is that OOP languages are things such as C, C++, Java and that OOP is supported in PHP (mainly 5).

All of these are very powerful languages so i guess OOP is very powerful and useful.. so what is it?!?!

I have no idea what it is, what it does and what i can produce using it.

OOP doesn't really allow you do anything different from procedural programming (at least not functionally different). It is, essentially, a different way of designing your application and organizing the code with an emphasis on modularization and re-usability.

For a good introduction to the basic concepts of OOP, you might want to look at http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/java/concepts/index.html. (While its examples are in Java, it explains a lot of the basic concepts of OOP which are important to grasp before diving into using PHP classes and objects.)
