[RESOLVED] Determine scripts CPU usage?

Hi All,

I'm looking to determine the amount of CPU usage consumed by a PHP script.

Is this possible to access from within the script by any chance?

If not, anyone know where I'd look to find it? Think I'm running on LAMP; not sure how much access I have with my web host, but at this point I'm not even sure what I should be trying to look at.

Any pointers appreciated. Thanks in advance.

This article talks of using PHP's [man]getrusage/man function. Alternatively, it points you towards profilers/debuggers such as APD.

Selkirk, want to know so that I can gauge my usage while developing in hopes of not finding myself incurring hosting overage charges.

I think the problem is that it would be hard to know where your host draws the line. Rather than trying to instrument the program, I think it would be better to use a host that has a good policy on CPU usage. For example, one that will contact you and help you, rather than just turning you off.

Indeed. I'm pretty sure my host would be cool in terms of working with me when it crosses that line. I'm just looking to gauge so I can steer clear of it, and also know how well things will scale up with real world usage/numbers..
