select an item in drop down box

I have to display country name which selected when i did in registration.How do we select an item in the drop down box (value is fetched from database)?thanks in advance

When u generate the listbox u check witch country the user is from and u make that option selected:

<select name="name">
    <option value="0">Country name</option
    ...
    <option value="n" selected>Romania</option>
    ...
</select>
