print page

I am using include(); to bring in the text from a .htm file into a webpage.

But I want the viewer to be able to print this page, ie all the page content showing the company header and footer and the include in the middle.

any pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.

If it displays correctly in the browser they should be able to print it.

No, you cannot have the users'printer start to buzz as soon as you lod the page. the best you can do is initiate a print command, using javascript, I think

the page loads correctly and is viewed as I would want.
but when you click file, print (in IE) nothing happens. It prints .htm pages OK, but not .php pages........
I am not bothered about automating the proceedure, I just want the viewer to be able to print the page if they want

Not sure if this would work, but couldn't you do this to make it automatically print?

No.
That will only initiate the print window.

It also makes sense that you cannot do it, as you can decide that the user of your site will run out of printerpaper when he loads your page...

Sheep: That does not make sense. A php apge is no different than a html page, except that the content was generated dynamically. All I can think of is that your output is not valied (e.g., tables and div that are not closed properly). I know that IE bites the dust on that at times.

Thank you Leatherback, I think you might be onto something with this.
I have been playing around with this all week, all the tags are closed and the code seems OK, so I started replicating what the client user was doing in up-dating the page that is called in the php code and found my version working OK and printed OK, so I check the source code for their version against mine and found this.......

The page is a MS Word document saved as a web page, which gives all sorts of additional code, but the main difference between the 2 versions was
- Client version created in MS Word 10
- My version created in MS Word 9

Client version has additional tag, which mine does not have
xmlns:st1="urn:schemas-microsoft-com: office:smarttags"

Are the smart tags causing the problem?
I have googled this and not found anything related to smart tags and print problems, but does anyone have any experience with this....
