Going off on a tangent....should all domain names be less depressing?
ie you can't register.... feelingsad.com, nopayriseforme.com or oopsiveputonweight.com
maybe all domain names should be positive and joyful such as... ivefoundawife.com, woohoo.com or freebar.com
anyone know of any depressing real life domains? or positive ones?
lol, i tried to find some depressing ones but they all took me to porn websites! (or at least that is my excuse)

I reckon it's okay to own domains if you have real plans for them but haven't got the wheels rolling on building the sites. I've got a couple dormant which need work doing to them before going live (baby, work and life in general play havoc with that). Also, you might buy a domain for one reason and then realise it suits something else completely. What I wouldn't do is buy up a load of domains that I had an inkling about but no real plans to do anything with.

I am not in a hurry at all. I get ideas of sites I want to make then I do some searching and find a name I like and buy it. I don't buy and sell domains. Everything I get I want to do something with. Some are done, some are partially done, and some are pending. =)

Lousy design as well: typical flash - took forever to load, gave no option to bypass, no navigation without it and no obvious relationship between the animation and the purpose.

Most designers who use Flash use it for animation. And I agree, that's really stupid. But now that Flash can interact with remote servers and with Javascript, it becomes an amazing partner to PHP. Don't mess with Flash, man.
lol, indeed. but really flash like javascript is used 95% of the time in an annoying way.
Sites are are 100% flash i think are so annoying. I've not yet seen one ive actually liked. The animation is usually so tedious, you just want it to end.
The only flash i can think of that i use fairly regularly is flash games... and this is only when I'm bored and looking to waste some time. I cant think of any good really good examples of flash. However, I can think of many good examples of JavaScript.
Of course then there are flash adverts I try and ignore, the adverts that make noise are the most annoying thing ever.
The worst Flash site I ever saw was Hitachi UK. I was going for an interview and wanted to look up the product details that the software support job was for. The site was totally unusable, could not find a thing and could not search for anything either. It was like the silliest sort of computer game where you had to guess what the controls were and indeed what the point of the game was in the first place??
