want to creat a cron job using php

Hi friends, I want to create a cron job using php, what i want is that, suppose i fix up a date i.e suppose 12th june 2007 so at this particular date a mail should automatically goes to the persons which are in my Mysql database.

How can I start writing this..plz help

Here's how I would do it...

First write a php script which checks the current date. If it's a date for which you want to send mail (12th june 2007) query the database and send mail.

Then add a line in your crontab which executes the script once per day. You'll call the script with php -f filename.php
