JavaScript variable to PHP

Is there a hack to make it possible to get say screen resolution by way of JavaScript and get that value into a PHP variable?

Look at AJAX. Other than that there is no way since JS is run in the browser and PHP on the server.

well.. thee is of course also the javascript submit() button.

But.. Do not do this.

Why?

• The screen does not tell you that the browser if fullscreen
• You do not know which side-bars they are using
• NEVER EVER resize to fullscreen from them, as this is the most annoying thing yet, especially as you actually resice the reduced sice to fullscreen, resulting in hard to reduce screens

Let the user decide how he wants to view your site, and design the site so that screensize does not matter.

My boss is wanting screen resolution for manipulating CSS of a portal design/redesign. Mandate is to design for 800x600, but most of our newer monitors can not be set that low. So..., he wants to "sneak" around the mandate which will eventually be drug kicking and screaming to current (or almost current) technology anyway.
