[RESOLVED] how to rename my forum & change url?

hi there, firstly id like to say thanx to any offers of advice as im pretty much in the dark about this and im hoping someone here can answer my queries.
i have a php forum installed on my home page, i have installed it in a folder which has the same name as my forum on my webspace. since that was my first ever forum , id like to make some new changes to it, the most inportant being that i want to rename my forum.

will it work if i just go into cute ftp and rename the folder my forum is installed in or is it more complicated than that? if it is, is anybody able to point me in the right direction as to how i might go about changing the name of it without losing the current contents of my forum?

First you have to tell us which script do you use?

sorry i am using phpBB 2.0.21

To change your forum's location and name login to phpbb administration panel. (your_forum_address/admin), select General Board Settings.

then modify Script path and Site name

Make sure that you rename you forum's dir. (according to Script path) 🙂

hi i tried what you suggested and i managed to get the url changed and have updated the site logo etc. the only problem is on top of my logo now is the words forum in quite large font. i didnt put it there but its a link as well, to the index page. this only occured after i installed the new theme so i am wondering if its to do with that. i just want to know how to remove it as its in the way of my logo and looks bad. am i alowed to post the link to my forum here to show you what i mean or is that not allowed?

any advice on removing this word from above my logo would be appreciated greatly. thanks

Go to templates directory and find overall_header.tpl
Here you can remove a forum title.

ok im sorry if im coming across as a bit dense, as ive not much experience changing code etc, ive opened up the tpl file in dreamweaver and the only thing i can hinestly see that might be what i am supposed to be looking for is this load of code

Yes, that's it.

Just delete <h3><a href="{U_INDEX}">{SITENAME} Forum</a></h3>
You can also remove <div class="description">{SITE_DESCRIPTION}</div>
