Newbie needs help

Help... I've never done any php and looking for help. I've got a client that wants to add the ability to subscribe to their print magazine. And, connect to their credit card processor. I've looked at the CC processor's hosted form and decided all subscription info can be entered there. But, I need for the new subscriber to select 1) the locale where the subscription will go, 2) subscription length, 3) media or first class, 4) add sales tax for Wash. residents.

I need to be able to pass to the CC processor 1) description of subscription, 2) total amount, 3) tax amount.

I've kinda started on an html form at nscalemagazine.com/subscribe2.html.

I have done a little reading on php and it appears that I should be able to accomplish this, but don't really know where to begin.

Good long-term solution. But, I fear it would take me months to see what options would be available to do what I want to do. Thanks for the pointer, though.

You don't need php for this, straight html form is all you need. Surely your payment processor provides documentation for that.

Alas, the credit card processor has given me only light guidance in the form of a couple sample scripts. Their recommendation for this case was to create a separate order/submit button for each subscription rate which would POST to a separate page, which would then be POSTed to the CC gateway. What amounts to a separate page for each item, as if we were selling books or shirts or something. I have worked out an html page with all the options, but it will POST to only a single page, which would then be POSTed to the cc gateway. www.nscalemagazine.com/subscribe2.html if you want to look at it.
