call to undefined function help

hello,
i'm using php5,mysql server 4.1,IIS
i got error,' call to undefined function mysql_connect in line 3...'
what i've tried to do are :
1. uncomment the extension = php_mysql.dll
2. set the extension dir to c:\php\ext\
3. restarting the IIS (fine,no error while restarting)

still cant get the mysql connect to work...
can you help me plz... ?

Did you go to the database forum ?

Did you add the PHP directory to your system's PATH environment? Did you do a phpinfo() to verify that PHP shows the changes you made in your config?

If you find that changes aren't showing up, did you add the 'PHPRC' environment variable to point to the directory where your php.ini file is located?
