[RESOLVED] Instead of <? short open tag

Hello!

I've been reading this forum and I have to say it's always been one of the most friendly groups.

Question I have, is I regularly use <? throughout my http at different spots my website, and normally it's to echo variables etc...

After reading it's better to not use it.

I've been revamping my links to always use <?php instead. For example, I might use the "Welcome <? echo $username", which I now have changed to "Welcome <?php echo $username".

Is this the correct alternative?

That is correct.

The short tag '<?' (as well as the '<?=' syntax) is deprecated and, IIRC, even removed from PHP6. When coding PHP scripts, you should always use the full '<?php' tag.
