[RESOLVED] Parsing a URL

This may be too simple for someone.

I have this URL: http://mysite.com?id=45

How do I parse the number '45' out of the url string?

Umm, why bother "parsing"? Is that just a term from some other language.

Or, did you really wanna do something with this value?

I guess I assumed (whether rightly or wrongly, only the OP can tell us) that the URL was not the current page's, but just some URL string from some other source. Otherwise the $_GET solution is the obvious solution if, indeed, we are talking about the currently processing script's URL (and too obvious to me to have assumed that's what was being asked 🙂 ).

Yes, unless you assume that "mysite.com" is really, er, "his site", then "parsing" takes on a rather different meaning.

This will set an array in $url of all passed in values

(
    [id] => 45
)

Before I answered the question, I checked the OP's join date (2004) and number of posts (95). If they were a newbie (Joined 2007, with only 1-2 posts), I would have asked them to clarify their question.

Judging from some of Netfrugal's past questions, I bet I guessed right.
