window.open different size on mac to PC

I have an issue here with the window.open command opening a different size window on firefox on a PC compared to firefox on a mac.
the windows opens to 400x600 in IE6, IE7, firefox on the PC but smaller on firefox on mac.
im using window.open('url here', 'name', 400, 600) and the window opens smaller, 1 or 2 centimeters in firefox on the mac than it does on firefox on a PC hiding the upload box.
is this a common problem between operating systems or not? how do i fix it and make the windows both the same sizes on both operating systems?? also the text box seems longer in mac than PC, any fix?

I ran into this same problem.

I resolved it by checking which browser/OS they are using then changed the window size accordingly.

Why not use CSS to set the width of the upload box to, say, 95% of the window width?
