C++ Tutorials?

Hey,
ive learnt what i want to with PHP and want to move onto C++ so i can write desktop programs.

but i don't know where to start, from what ive heard php is derived from C++ somewhat so im guessing it shouldnt be to hard to pickup

i know i need a compiler but i need some tutorials etc that are realy easy to follow etc

never mind ive managed to get myself sorted, ive even written simple program and i mean simple.

im trying to work out how to get the current date and time so i can work out how long someone has been alive

May I ask you why you try to learn C++. I would have gone for Java or C#, lots of development are done in those languages and they will stay for a long while. C++ is not used that much, it will mean that it is harder to get work.
