which one to use and why ?

Hello forums !!
I had some few questions.
Suppose for passing the query string through url and retrieving it , i had seen the 2 ways.
one way:

$_GET['parm']

another way:

$reqVar = '_' . $_SERVER['REQUEST_METHOD'];
$form_vars = $$reqVar;
$parm = $form_vars['parm'] ;

Can anybody make me clear of using second way, actually i didnt get that .

The second method appears to be trying to handle situations where the script does not know whether form data is going to be sent to it via the POST or GET method. I would not bother with it unless you specifically need your script to handle either situation. If you are writing a script to handle a specific form's input, then you can control which method that form uses and simply access the applicable super-global array: $POST or $GET. And since you say you are passing the data via a URL, then it will be in the $_GET array, so you don't need to worry about anything else.

And besides, if you weren't sure about which request method was used (and why wouldn't you be?) both would be found in the $REQUEST array or (for more precision) array_merge($GET, $POST) or even $GET + $_POST.

Where did you see the second method being used? It's certainly a new one on me.
