[RESOLVED] Web page not displaying script output

Hello all

I'm experiencing a basic problem -I can't get a web page to display my script's output.

I've gone through all the installation procedures for the latest versions of MySQL server, PHP and Apache.

I've also followed the necessary instructions to the letter.

In the end, so far as I could see, the finished results were encouraging and indicated to me that PHP, Apache and SQL Server were all configured properly and working correctly on my machine.

To view web pages I’m using the latest version of Mozilla Firefox and working with scripts locally.

However, after all that, I can only see a blank page when I try to run scripts in the browser.

Can anyone help? Many thanks.

You need to use the browser with something like http://localhost otherwise it won't work. If you already have that then start by viewing a simpel html file that way, then a php file without php, a php file with php and then with a connectin with the database. Please tell what is working and what is not, and post the code as well on the page that doesn't work.

Can you paste the contents of the script you're trying?

Have you ensured that display_errors is set to On, and error_reporting set to E_ALL ?

Thank you bradgrafelman and Piranha for your prompt replies. They were very gratefully received.

It seems my mistake was to overlook that I needed to place my script document in a directory linked to the local web server.

I did this and actually, finally got the script to work. I was so concerned with the bigger picture that I missed out the detail of correct procedure. My mistake.
