page sorting script

Hi,

Can someone help me find a php script/tutorial that can sort html pages into several categories? I have a current website with a bunch of static html pages and am trying to built a page with option to browse by category. So it will start from option page/category page/html detail page. I know I can use a dropdown menu for the option, but I hate to do it manually.

sorting those pages is probably a manual job. If you want something to automatically sort something for you, then u are going to need to learn how to program a script to examine the files, extract some kind of information about them, and then sort that.

some good candidates for sorting:
file name
page title (the part in the <title></title> tags
file size
file modification date

You are going to need to be more specific.

Thanks for replying. Ok I'm trying to be more specific now.

The company that I'm working at is selling motorcycle exhaust system. Aside from that, they also sell accessories, gears and parts. so when people go to product page, I want a feature where people can browse products by different categories (exhaust, accessories, gears or parts) Then, when one of the categories is chosen, it'll go to category page where all of the products from the category is listed. When one of the product is clicked, it'll go to the product detail page.

I guess I'll use file name to sort it.

Is this detail enough?

It doesn't really sound like you are a programmer. I expect that PHP would be useful to you if someone had already created a database and written a bunch of code for you, but sounds to me like you just need to create some static HTML pages and link them yourself.
