Does anyone happen to no where any good step by step documentation that explains how I can add user names and passwords to my site? I would like to also be able to setup username and password authentication for new user. I have the options to use .htaccess or at phpMyAdmin 2.6.3.
I was told by someone else that if I use a database I would have to create matching tables within my phpMyAdmin 2.6.3. I created a database using Microsoft Office Access 2003 setting “Contact ID” as primary key. The tables consist of the following:
Contact ID
user_name
password
First Name
Last Name
Address
City
State/Province
Postal Code
Company Name
Work Phone
Home Phone
Mobile Phone
Fax Number
Email Name
Birthdate
Photograph
Marital Status
Spouse Name
Children Names
I then created a database within phpMyAdmin 2.6.3 and tried to create matching table in order to import the data but I have no idea what to add to the table after the field name:
FieldType, Length/Values, Attributes, Null, Default, Extra, ECT...
I also have no idea how to set the database up in order to link to my website or have my users create and authenticate a username and password. Does anyone have some reading material in order to set this up properly?
Someone else told me that creating .htaccess would be easier but I can find any step by step instruction on how to do this. My web hosting company (bluehosting.com) offers me a Password Protect Directories option but once I protect the file I don’t know what to do next.
