PHP - MSSQL - Downloading docs

I'm having problems reading a word-file from a blob-field in a SQL-database. The downloaded file doesn't open with Word and when I open it as a txt in notepad, it starts with:
ÐÏࡱá > þÿ W Y þÿÿÿ T U V ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ
It's long to post it all...

And after that, I can see the original text of the word-document.
Can anybody help me?
