[RESOLVED] Please help me put target="_blank" in php code

Could someone please help me put a target="_blank" into this php code.
It is a page in my member's area where I can add new navagation. The problem is that the new link is shown on the same page, and it would be better if it opened in a new window. I have exhausted myself trying to figure it out, I hope it can be done.

I posted in the 'newbie' forum. Complicated?! Well, yes, it is to me...
since I'm a 'newbie'. So, I decided to check out how you help other 'newbies' and I found that you were pretty nice to them. You even took the time to copy, paste and edit the script in question for some, with no sarcasim. Mighty nice of you.

So, at the expense of sounding even more stupid than I already do, I tried what you replied, but to no avail. I typed it in everyplace in the <form> element, tested, and typed again and again. WOW, bigphat's a dummy!

No need to reply, I'll just wait for someone who hasn't forgotten that they were once a 'newbie', also, to help me.

Well, the general expectation is that if you come to the PHP Newbies forum looking for help, you must be looking for help concerning your PHP code. In this case, this is a problem of how to change your HTML, which should go to the ClientSide Technologies forum.

Well, I read your page about how to ask questions the smart way. I believe I asked it as described on your page with the exception that it wasn't tough enough for anyone here. I did hunt through php.net, I will search there some more.

As far as client side goes, I have no idea what that is, so I wouldn't have known to go to that forum. I have a php script I needed help with, I am a newbie,
so I believe this was the right forum to post my very well described title and question in. I have read through threads which weren't described well at all, with titles with the likes of "help me!"

It's quite easy: client-side scripting is code that deals with the way the user's browser does something... it's code that is used on the client's side of the internet. PHP is a server-side language - it has no idea what a "window" is, let alone how to create a new one.

As such, you need some client-side scripting here. Now, as to what you're wanting to open in a new window... I'm a bit confused. Are you talking about the links in the navigation itself? If so, you'd add this target="_blank" code to the <a> tags for those links. The reason I'm confused (if this is what you're wanting) is because you don't show us the code for the links - you just show us the code that [man]include/man's a file called adminnavigation.php - though you never show us the contents of this file.

There's definitely a fair bit of those - I'm glad you actually tried to describe what you're doing in the title. Sometimes I don't even bother to read the other ones :p

I would like to thank you for your help! You are very kind. I was very happy to see your reply when I came back to post my findings, I figured it out!
I ended up going to the member's navigation and typed in:
<form method="POST" action=" <? echo $navurl; ?> "target="blank">
and low and behold, it worked! Hopefully this may help someone else out if anyone has the same query.
