Hi,

I just started a new company and paid a designer to put together the website. I realize that the website is new and will take a while to get high rankings in search engines, but I'm getting a little anxious. A friend of mine suggested I post on this forum. I'm not experienced with this and don't really even know what php is. Anyway, if anyone has some extra time, it would be great if you could take a look at the website and let me know if it's done properly or of any suggestions to improve the search rankings. PHP probably does not really have anything to do with this. Search engine ranking is dependent basically on two things: the number and quality of external links from other sites to yours, and the content of your pages. While PHP might be used as a means to generate some of your content, it's still up to you to determine what that content will be.

You might want to do a web search on "search engine optimization" (or "SEO"), and you'll certainly find lots of links on the subject. Just beware, there is a lot of out-of-date info, wrong information, and "snake oil salesmen" who'd love to sell you questionable SEO services.

I typically pick about 3 keywords per page I want to optimize (one being of the most importance, the other two being of lesser importance). Here are some suggestions aside from the advice NogDog gave

Pick strong keywords. B2b and strategize are vague, and have far lower conversion rate. Keyword phrases of 3-4 words typically convert much better.
Get your keywords at the top of your page, and again at the bottom.
Put your most important keywords in headings (h1 for the most important, h2 for least important, etc)
Sprinkle your keywords, and especially synonyms, within the body. Begin talking about the subject, and if you end on the subject, Google thinks it's important.
Drop the image-based navigation and use text links.
Use a sitemap. Both HTML and XML.
Consider a CSS-based design vs. tables. You'll get a higher % of your copy (and keywords) in relation to your code.
Don't copy and paste the same meta info onto each page!
9 . Consider adding more content on your site and using keyword-friendly urls (vs. words like about in the url)
