php GD output to file issue

Greetings!
I have an issue with outputting a GD-script to a file on the server
My script:

The script it self works like a charm so dont mind it. (It can output correctly without the optional $filnamn argument). The issue must be in this section:
It's supposed to generate an image named after the zid specified. For example "1.jpg", "2.jpg" and so on. One at a time ofc.

  imagejpeg($background, $filnamn,100);

I have tried various methods changing headers and CHMOD the file to 777. For the record the server is a UNIX-based system running Apache 1.3.37, PHP Version 4.4.4

So... what exactly is the problem? It doesn't create a file at all? If not, I would say:

1. What are the permissions of the directory containing this script? They should be set to something PHP can write to, e.g. 766.

2. Have you commented out your header() call to see if PHP is trying to output errors? (Actually, why do you have this header() call anyway? You're not outputting any images directly...)

3. Is error_reporting set to E_ALL and display_errors set to On ?

2. Commented the header out.
