Hi All,

My web host(lunarpages) updated their servers and transfered my site to a new server and now many of my custom hack scripts no longer work.

Upon closer inspection it would appear that in order to get anything to work I now have to use the following line at the top of my scripts to pick up all the passed variables. Up until now I have been 'getting away with it'.

$id=$_GET['id'];

Can someone confirm if this is the server setting that has changed on the server that now forces me to use the GET command when picking up passed variables or should I look for something else to get my scripts to work.....apart from using the GET?

More likely it's a change from having register_globals turned on to having it turned off. As "off" is now the preferred mode of operation, you should just deal with it and update your scripts to explicitly refer to $GET, $POST, $SESSION, and/or $COOKIE arrays instead of depending on register_globals to create 'simple' variables for you.

Thanks very much for putting me straight.....I'm a total hack I'm afraid. Your explanation makes sense, I checked phpinfo and yes register_globals is turned off.

I have gone ahead and started to update the scripts to use the $GET & $POST
