can't get mail() to work

I suspect this is a windows setting, thus posting in this forum...

I'm trying to get mail() to run under W2003 with IIS. I've got the SMTP section of my php.ini set correctly, and my php script should be right (basically just copied from a script I have running on a different machine).

I run the script and get nothing, no e-mail, no error, nothing. Any thoughts on where to start looking for the problem?

The data is pulled from a form, and the echo statements at the end are only to verify the data.

mailhost? my company's IT department. The SMTP section of my php.ini file (I have the actual domain names in my file, but I didn't want them posted here)...

I simplified my script a bit... it doesn't pass the if, so the script ends up in the else branch...

So there's obviously an error sending mail. What is the PHP warning/error message that is generated?

Does your SMTP server require authentication to send mail (I know ours does - don't need any unauthenticated bloke out there to use our server to send out spam)? If so, you can't use PHP's native mail() function.
