How to sort a table by its column rather than its row?

Hello,

I have a table -

A B C D
E F G H
I J K L

I would like to sort it like this -

A D G J
B E H K
C F I L

Basically it is being sorted alphabetically by column.

Does anyone know how I can do this? I've been trying to figure it out for ages and I'm beginning to go mad...
