Troubleshoot core dumps?

Hey,
It is possible to troubleshoot core dump files?
One of my sites, its dumping a whole load of dump files into the public_html folder.

I have downloaded a load of them and had a look, iv found the request url strings it appears. they are from loads of pages on my site, which load without a problem in my web browser.

But what is similar in all the dumps is the agent, yahoos' bot.
is it possible its hammering the site too fast, the site is only on shared hosting and its using the CGI version of php... is it possible the server can't cope so php is crashing?

if i go to the requested url strings that are in the dump files, the pages load fine, and no dump is created.
i am yet to find a dump file with any user agent other than the "yahoo slurp"

I'd really appreciate any input any one can give.

Ok, what you should do is this:

If you're not using an officially supported version of PHP, rebuild PHP from source without any third party modification, with debugging.
Don't use any PECL modules or any other nonstandard versions - take note of all the release notes and do everything as specified.
Reproduce the problem with this new build of PHP
Having reproduced it, get a stack dump out of your debugger, either from running it under the debugger, or using your debugger on the core file
Check if there is a duplicate bug already on the PHP bugzilla
If not, then post a bug into the PHP Bugzilla.

If you are not able or competent to do the above, find someone who is.

If you are running ANY nonstandard version of PHP (for example one which your Linux distribution has hacked), then get a standard proper build before reporting a bug.
