I am very new to PHP scripts I am trying to put together a Paid to read site so I bought a script and a guy Installed it on My website for me, but its not functional for some reason and I have no idea how to edit it. Is there an easy editor for programs like PHP or am I just screwed?

An editor is not going to help you.

Does the script come with documentation or instructions? What did the instructions tell you to do? What happened when you did that?

If the software came with no instructions, I suggest that you ask for your money back on the grounds that you can't figure out how to use it. Tell them that in lieu of money back, you will settle for a set of instructions. (Did you pay the guy who installed the software? How do you know he installed it right?)

He installed it , but said since I was using Yahoo webhosting it had some errors on it and I would have to contact them to figure out what the database name and all that was because he could not do it properly with the info I gave him.

He installed it on one of his sites and it worked fine, so he suggests I go with another web host and let him install it there, but I have no idea how to edit
PHP to build my website so I will still be stuck with a website that I cant
do anything with right?

I just want to be able to set it up to be functional for the business I am
trying to use. Will I have to be fluent in PHP script before I can be able
to do anything with it?

Based on the way the software looks, I suspect that you will not need to be fluent with PHP. I suspect that once you get it installed and working, then you will use an FTP client to upload a new config file - or maybe there will be a web based admin tool to make changes to your site. Usually when you buy a script like this, you don't really need to get your hands dirty with the PHP.

After you get the database name (and username, and password), you should be cruising right along. The next thing you will need are instructions. And then read them. All your questions will be answered.
