I have a new dedicated server and it's all WAY over my head! Can anyone recommend someone or a company who is really experienced in Plesk Apache/Redhat/Qmail?
It should come setup out-of-the-box (not the most secure, but definitely in working condition). What is it that you need to customize?
The main thing now is that Qmail comes as an open relay. Spammers have attacked and I've been blacklisted with all my IPs. I can purchase more IPs but I want to make sure everything is SUPER secure before I waste more money. Again, I'm lost in this area and need TONS of help (or someone to tell me to just give it up).
Who sets up a server with an open email relay in the year 2007? Is this a managed hosting provider where your server is, or did you set it up? If you've got "managed hosting" and they've installed an open email relay, you need to find another managed hosting provider, now.
It's self-managed and the person who set it up for me apparently didn't know what they were doing. Maybe I should switch to a managed server?
Yes, I would recommend switching to managed hosting. Yes, it costs more, but at the end of the day, someone else gets to pull all their hair out over how to make it work.
Yeah, none of the major mail apps come setup with open relay enabled by default. And any host that sets it up that way is severely retarded.
For managed hosting, I've heard a lot of good things about Rack Space. But you definitely pay for it.
