[RESOLVED] Opening a .php file

How are you supposed to open a .php file? I tried using IE7 but all i get is a message asking if I want to open/save/cancel. If i click either open or save it tries to load the page again only to gave me the same message.

If you want to view a PHP web page locally with your browser, then you need to be running a webserver on your PC, have the file in question saved in the web root directory configured for that webserver (or a subdirectory of it), and open the file from the browser's address bar as "http://localhost/filename.php".

the minimum you need - such as NogDog pointed out - is a webserver and PHP installed. (not only) for newbies "all in one" packages such as WAMP, XAMPP or EasyPHP (the downloads are easy to find and free) tend to make the initial plunge a lot easier, as in involves less configuration (but also less understanding about how the technology actually works).
