Need a simple php script

Hey,

I'm new to php I read up on the basics and stuff about php. I don't really know were to start on writing a php script. So, I was wondering if anyone could write me a simple php script so I could start to understand how to write them.

I have a php login script already (I did not write it) and I wanted a script that you type something in a few different text boxes, maby like 5-7 and 1 or 2 with a drop box to pick from something. Then, I want what you typed show up in 2 places but 1 place only shows like maby 4 of them and the other place shows them all. I'm pretty sure this would be a pretty basic. If you could do this for me I would appreciate it a lot.

just google "php tutorials" - and you will find plenty of sites such as this: http://www.w3schools.com/php/default.asp
i'm afraid you will have to actually take some time and at least learn the basics of php - tutorials can be fairly helpful and there are several good books for beginners out there too.

the other option would be, that you can hire someone to do this for you. while this is not a very hard task, i highly doubt that someone here will whip this up just like that; and because of that, you should maybe sit down for a day or two and see if you can't come up with a solution yourself. dont worry about the login script yet - try to get your form working first.

the least you can do is post whatever you have so far and give a bit more background information about your project (f.ex. where/if the data is stored and where the "places" are, that it's supposed to show up at).

Ok, I think I found what I needed but how do I make information save onto a text file or mysql but I'd rather a text file because it won't be a lot of info.

while "mysql" and "databases" may sound intimidating, it is worth learning about it. i find it more convenient to store the data there than in flat text files.

Yea thats true but I'm working for a small company on mIRC and we make clan templates for clans and stuff and they usually buy webhosting from other small companies on mIRC and not many of them have mysql.

If they don't have mysql chances are they have security settings that won't allow you to write to .txt files too.
