hi, I was viewing some pages and these pages definitely uses database. it's address is smth like www.testpage.com/display...so if it's a page done in php, can i remove the .php extension?

It could be a directory name, pointing to a directory that has an index.php file in it. Or they could be using Apache mod_rewrite to parse the URL and redirect it to the actual PHP file. Or they could have configured their web server to send all files to the PHP parser.

Most likely, you cannot just drop the .php suffix from your file names without using one of the above techniques, or some other technique that might be out there to use.

Actually, there is some feature/module in Apache that allows this. I can't remember which one it is, though I do know it's enabled on my server, because I can leave the extensions off on all of my files (htm, jpeg, php, etc. etc.) and it'll still work.

EDIT: Apparently, it's the MultiViews option.
