[RESOLVED] whitespace & html

I'm having a whitespace issue i think when using the following php code

header("Location: index1.php");

I am getting the following error msg

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at W:\www\newsite8\inc\env-template.php:47) in W:\www\newsite8\inc\env-paymentgateway.php on line 138

This is the line of HTML it reff too.

Whats really strange is, depending what part of the html i delete, like the width / id etc etc, it gets rid of the error on that line and goes to another line number, either 48, 50 depending how much i take out.

You can't output anything to the browser before all the headers are sent. Not a white space, not a enter, not html code. According to the information you give you have outputted lots of information to the browser. Basically you have to rethink the design of the page to output all the headers first and then the html code.

Hi.

Thanks for your reply, this seems to make more sence, as i just removed a body tag in the html, and once i did this, it cleared the error in that page.

Its now pointing to the main file with the Header code in, and pointing to some javascript i had in there.

Back to the drawing board 😃

In other words you're still generating output before sending the header.
