I need a simple user login system with "remember me"

Howdy everyone,

Before everyone jumps on the soapbox and yells 'HOTSCRIPTS!' at the same time let me say this: I've already been over hotscripts a dozen times hoping to find what I need, no luck. I've also searched google and this forum...

Here what I'm after a simple & secure MySQL driven login system to use as a starting point to build a 'yahoo groups' style program (If anyone has a script like that that would be great, hotscripts doesn't).

I'd build it myself but I don't have a lot of time on my hands... I know these requests are annoying but it's for a family emergency where I need to keep in touch with each other (big family) more efficiently than via telephone.

Also, I found a system called PHPmyLogin that seems good. It doesn't seem to logout correctly so I'll check you your link.
